Food delivery in Ipoh 2021 has been (and still is) an absolute life saver for restaurateurs as well as Ipoh residents!
There’s no need to miss your favorite breakfast haunt or lunch spot when you can order it straight to your home! Not having to find parking is another bonus!
If you don’t know where to start, this post is about food delivery services you can find in Ipoh!
1. GrabFood
By now, the whole of Malaysia (or at least those in urban areas) is no stranger to seeing GrabFood motorcyclists in their neighborhood!
Ratings are consistently good across all their app platforms.
Besides using their search bar to find your cravings:
The app has useful categories (e.g. Halal, Near Me, All Cuisines, etc). Including many different promotions too! Like Free Deliveries!
There’s also an option to Self Pick-Up your own food if that’s more convenient for you!
If this is your first time trying out food delivery in Ipoh, you can’t go wrong with GrabFood! You should be able to find your favorite local fare (though not necessarily by your go-to vendor)!
App Ratings:
- 4.5 ratings on Android app
- 4.6 ratings on iOS app
- 4.7 ratings on HUAWEI AppGallery
Coverage: Nationwide

2. Foodpanda
Another food delivery service that is just as prevalent as Grab Food:
There’s no mistaking the quintessential bright pink delivery boxes of Foodpanda riders!
The user interface is easy enough for first-timers to navigate. You start your search with your address. And choose between Delivery or Pick Up for your order!
Sort the options by Cuisines, or take your pick from the foodpanda Favorites or the Only on Foodpanda section!
Filters also allow you to sort options by price or the speed of delivery (i.e. Fastest Delivery). And if there is discount!
Or you can browse through popular restaurants in your city!
App Ratings:

- 4.5 ratings on iOS app
- 4.3 ratings on HUAWEI AppGallery

3. Bungkusit
Unless you have a newer Huawei phone:
Bungkusit’s app is a breeze to use even though they are relatively new on the scene! Their delivery coverage is quite extensive too. Covering major cities in Malaysia – Ipoh included!
On Demand delivery (Within 60 minutes) is their main service. Starting from RM5!
But you can also request for a rider (i.e. Roadie) to pick up a meal for you – even if it’s from a stall in a pasar malam! Or from a roadside street vendor!
App Ratings:
- 4.5 ratings on Android app
- 4.7 ratings on iOS app
- 2.0 ratings on HUAWEI AppGallery (few reviews)
Coverage:
- Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, Johor, Terengganu and Ipoh;
- Maximum delivery distance is up to 500KM and depending on riders availability.

4. EASI
EASI rebranded from hungry2u. For those that feel more comfortable with Mandarin, it is a good alternative from other food delivery services that are only available in English!
We like that they have a dedicated category for vegetarians in their food search menu.
While EASI still has work to do for their Android app, users on iOS app or HUAWEI AppGallery should have no trouble using the service!
However if you are used to Grab, you may find it frustrating that EASI doesn’t enable you to track the progress of your orders! Or to order from multiple restaurants in one delivery!
Note: You need to set up an account first before you can use the app.
App Ratings:
- 2.5 ratings on Android app
- 4.8 ratings on iOS app
- 4.5 ratings on HUAWEI AppGallery
Coverage:
Klang Valley, Penang, Perak, Johor, Pahang, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Seremban, Sabah & Sarawak

5. QuickSent Food Delivery
For QuickSent Food Delivery, support on the HUAWEI AppGallery is a lot better than on Android or iOS! In fact, those on iPhone are not able to check their order details, unlike on Android.
Which is a shame since they do cover many states in East and West Malaysia!
But some users may like that their food selection has a surprisingly high number of Chinese hawkers and restaurants too!
If you do want to give this food delivery service a try in Ipoh, do expect a longer wait time (up to 2 hours in worst-case scenarios.
As reviews on their Facebook page suggest slow delivery times in other cities outside of Klang Valley. (e.g. Bukit Mertajam, Penang, Sibu, Miri, Kota Tinggi)
Furthermore, paying methods are restricted to COD (Cash on Delivery) or QuinPay. And if you do choose to pay via COD, it can be significantly more expensive than using their e-wallet option (QuinPay)!
App Ratings:
- 2.0 ratings on Android app
- 3.1 ratings on iOS app
- 4.5 ratings on HUAWEI AppGallery
Coverage:
Klang Valley, Perak, Kedah, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Melacca, Johor, Terengganu, Pahang, Sabah, and Sarawak.

6. Beep
The great thing about Beep is that they have some food options that you can’t find on Grab or FoodPanda!
In general, the app is buggy. Regardless of whether you use Android or iOS. As can be expected since they are very new (March 2020).
Note: No support for HUAWEI AppGallery yet
There is a POS system (there’s GrabPay and credit cards are acceptable too) but the Beep app is still without a detailed tracking system for orders!
So you have to contact the driver directly for updates. Or poke their Facebook customer service to help if your order is late!
Try to order within a 5km radius if possible because their delivery fee is set to RM5.50 for the first 5km. After which, the delivery fees are higher than with GrabExpress!
App Ratings:
- 3.4 ratings on Android app
- 3.1 ratings on iOS app
- N/A on HUAWEI AppGallery
Coverage:
KL (Kuala Lumpur), PJ (Petaling Jaya), Penang, Bangsar, Ipoh, Melaka, Shah Alam, Kuching, Puchong, JB (Johor Bahru), Subang, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Sabah, Sarawak

7. MrSpeedy
MrSpeedy has a few things going for it! The app interface is simple and you just need a few minutes to register. And delivery fees can be cheaper than other delivery services.
Note: No app support for HUAWEI AppGallery
You can pay before or after delivery. Those who have used MrSpeedy before will notice improvements to the app. Including direct contact via WhatsApp!
However depending on where you live, you may not be able to find your exact address in the app! And it can take a while for the app to assign a rider for your order!
Other than food delivery, MrSpeedy can even help you drop off your Shopee parcels!
App Ratings:
- 4.5 ratings on Android app
- 4.9 ratings on iOS app
- N/A on HUAWEI AppGallery

Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh, Penang, Johor Bahru

Conclusion
Food delivery in Ipoh can be just as convenient as in Kuala Lumpur!
But the most reliable food delivery services at the moment are still GrabFood and FoodPanda! Although it’s nice to have other food delivery services around for greater variety!
