Ladang Soon Cheong is bigger than it looks. And after so many years of visiting Cameron Highlands, we finally got round to visiting this place.
If you want to know what this place offers and see some more photos from our visit there, keep on reading!
Strawberry Section
Let’s talk about the strawberries first. There are rows of strawberries that you can see from the main road. Because this section of the nursery is lower than the shop.
We found many ripe strawberries to choose from here since this place is not as popular with the recent school holiday crowds.
It only took us a few rows of browsing to complete our self-picking quota of 500g.
Shop
If you’re keen on picking strawberries here, the station is at the counter of the shop at the front. It costs RM30 to pick 500g of strawberries. That will be about 8 big ones.
The lady will remove or add on to make your total 500g if you don’t pick enough or pick too many.
They have pre-packed strawberries for sale too, but we saw that they were smaller than what we picked.
Nursery
Besides buying strawberries here, you can browse their nursery. They have some beautiful flowers here including orchids, hibiscus, and roses. In fact, the variety of colors for their roses is impressive for a small nursery.
The nursery also has pots of herbs like thyme and rosemary. We were tempted to get some if not for the much hotter climate in Ipoh.
We saw pots of aloe vera, spider plants, and others thriving in the nursery.
Parking And Fees
There are no entrance fees to visit this nursery. You only must pay if you want to pick strawberries.
Parking is limited to what’s available directly outside the nursery. On a weekday afternoon, we did not have trouble finding parking. There was no one else visiting the nursery at the time of our visit except for 2 other families.
Conclusion
There’s not much to do at Ladang Soon Cheong. If you’re coming here hoping they have an on-site café, they do not.
We would not recommend a visit unless you like looking at healthy happy plants. Or if you’re keen on picking strawberries because if you are, there’s a good chance many have not been picked yet.
Strawberry Farms in Cameron Highlands
Ladang Soon Cheong is what we would consider a small to medium-sized farm. We’ve got a list of other strawberry farms to visit in Cameron Highlands. Some of them have their own on-site cafes.
Scones in Cameron Highlands
You know what goes great with strawberry jam? Scones! And there’s plenty of options if you want to enjoy scones in Cameron Highlands with an ambiance.
Brinchang Night Market
Don’t think you’ll get a chance to pick strawberries? Brinchang Night Market has stalls selling strawberries. We have bought some there before and it is cheaper than picking your own strawberries even if they are not picked on the same day.
