Food At Mount Kiara

Food in Mont Kiara is different. Because this affluent area is home to many expats.

Hence, there are many restaurants serving fine foreign cuisine. And excellent service besides.

So if this list of best places for Mont Kiara food does not live up to your standards, we’re not sure what will. Try these great gourmet gems on your weekend foodie hunt!

1. Casa Rosa Mont Kiara Pines

Run by the same proprietors of the famous franchise, Jake’s Charbroil Steaks:

This restaurant in Pines Condo at Mont Kiara serves premium wagyu, sirloin, and rib eye steaks.

Their steaks have a robust meaty taste with a rich smoky flavor. It may not rival the tenderness of a USDA Prime, but it comes close enough.

If you’re not into steaks, then the Charbroil Chicken is an excellent choice. But you might not want to skip their Hawaiian Pizza topped with extra cheese either.

You can’t go wrong by ordering their set menus as these come with a main, coffee, and complimentary dessert too.

There’s also an assortment of appetizers, seafood (e.g., fresh oysters), pasta, and desserts.

This makes Casa Rosa Mont Kiara Pines an all-rounder for food in Mont Kiara.

2. Hong Kong Ban Jeom @163 Retail Park

On the first floor of Solaris Mont Kiara:

Hong Kong Ban Jeom serves Korean Chinese Food prepared by a native Korean family.

You know you’re in for a real treat as the brimming crowd also includes the local Korean community.

Hong Kong Ban Jeom’s rendition of deep-fried chicken in hot pepper sauce (Kkhanpunggi ) is great. It has enough heat to leave a lingering burning sensation.

It’s crispy too. And the spicy pepper sauce imparts a mild, sour nuance that complements each nugget.

Jajangmyeon is another favorite of ours here. This slurp-worthy bowl of homemade noodles has a thick black soybean sauce. And a generous topping of minced meat and pickled vegetables.

Don’t leave without savoring their Tangsuyuk either. This is a classic dish of sweet and sour pork stir-fried with vegetables in a tangy crimson sauce!

3. Porto Romano Restaurant Mont Kiara

A true-blue Mediterranean restaurant with an Italian flair:

Porto Romano serves authentic and delicious pizzas, pasta, and amazing appetizers.

Their menu has with many tantalizing winners like mushroom or seafood risotto. Duck ragu fettuccini and blue cheese carbonara penne are clear standouts here.

The simple Calzone Pizza is satisfying too (my personal favorite). It has a crispy outer dough. The filling is turkey ham, mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, and sweet tomatoes.

For starters, pick their Mushroom Soup which is not too thick yet flavorful.

Another item to try is the stuffed chicken breast dish that has cheese, herbs, and vegetables.

The restaurant is dim. But there are still many Instagrammable corners that deck this spacious venue.

Including the European-style fireplace in the living room. And tons of vintage movie posters and paintings, alongside knick-knacks above the bar.

4. CRUST

For wood-fired sourdough pizzas, artisan burgers, and brunch, try Crust at Mont Kiara.

Crust is no pushover when it comes to burgers. They dish up a fine variety of gourmet burgers. The Swiss Mushroom Burger is their signature meal. It has fluffy pretzel buns and a tasty meat patty.

Moreover, you have to try their cheeseburger and the novel Soft Shell Crab Burger. The latte has a medium rare beef patty oozing with creamy mayo.

As for their pizzas, their dough is first-class and crispy, with enough char too. Hence, their Margherita is a fail-proof winner, best paired with a creamy milkshake!

5. Sushiya Plaza Mont Kiara

Sushiya is a stable sushi restaurant (established in October 2015). It is still thriving because they serve affordable and good-quality sushi.

The varied menu has fresh seafood, sashimi, hand rolls, and don sets prepared by experts in their craft.

You can sit at the sushi bar table that overlooks the Japanese chef in action as he whips up the sushi or sashimi.

He has a courteous habit of checking in with diners if the food stacks up to their liking.

Since there are many value sets to choose from:

Expect a huge turnout during lunch, backed by prompt service that never disappoints.

Sample bonafide Spanish cuisine with north African and middle eastern flavors influence here.

They have a tempting assortment of tapas, paella, gin, and liquor. A native Spanish chef is behind the seasonal items on the menu.

The variety here is impressive. They have cold tapas as well as hot ones that have a coating of batter. You can also order fried baby squid or patatas bravas (spicy potatoes).

But while mains are a bit of a hit or miss, their signature Seafood Paella is good. Squid Ink Paella is another crowd-puller. It has flavorful squid and fish stock and smoky nuances.

Good music, a relaxing ambiance, and an appealing wine selection make this venue great too!

7. Michelangelo’s Ristorante Italiano Solaris Mont Kiara

Michelangelo’s Ristorante is another posh Italian restaurant at Solaris Mont Kiara.

This branch is different from the flagship store in Pavilion KL. And dining here is an elegant 5-star dining experience with contemporary vibes.

Food-wise, their Linguine Marinara served in a hot cast iron skillet is one of the best sellers. It brims with fresh seafood and exquisite gravy made from scratch.

Their Pasta Carbonara exudes the right balance of creaminess. Without feeling heavy or oily. Pizzas are also awesome:

Margherita Pizza and Bruschetta are exceptional. Thus, this branch is one of the best places for Italian food at Mont Kiara.

8. Chicken House Solaris

Chicken House Solaris may be a humble setup but they have excellent fried chicken.

The Original Chicken is the chef’s kiss. While their soy garlic honey and spicy series are other delicious contenders.

Regardless of which version you choose, these addictive cutlets are crispy. They have tantalizing marinade and succulent insides.

There’s also a fruity Soju that pairs well with the fried chicken!

Additionally, the house kimchi is good as well. It is sour, pungent, and tangy all at once. And packs enough spice.

9. Goheung Restaurant

It’s a love-hate relationship with Goheung Restaurant. Because while they have good food, the portions are small.

But each order does come with complimentary side dishes (banchan) and they taste good. But you can only have 1 refill per side dish. And they come in smallish portions too.

Mains like the pork bone stew (gamjatang) with a bowl of fluffy white rice is worth ordering:

The meat falls off the bone and the spicy soup is delicious! Drench the comforting broth over the rice for a satiating meal!

Aside from the pork bone stew, the kimchi stew (kimchi jjigae) is another exceptional item on the menu. It’s garnished with fresh spring onions and red chilies and served with a bowl of rice.

Goheung Restaurant is one of our go-to restaurants for Korean food in Mont Kiara. The ambiance feels authentic and wholesome too.

At Kodawari, order any udon and tempura here and you will not regret it:

Our personal favorites are the tempura fish, brinjal, and sweet potato fritters. These have a coating of light batter that makes for a crunchy bite.

But if it boils down to choosing one main:

Our first choice is the niku miso onsen dry udon with strong umami flavors. The noodles have a great texture too.
