About 555 Hahaha Café
555 Hahaha Café at Ipoh Garden East is a relatively new spot for Thai food (opening in mid-2022). Their menu has not much yet although they have typical Thai dishes like tom yum soup.
Their extended menu features a pineapple fried rice set.
The eatery is set in an upstairs lot (right above their partner Tealicious Café). The only signage for the café is outside their door in form of an A-frame stand.
There is no large signboard for 555 Hahaha Café.
Ease Of Parking At 555 Hahaha Café
Availability of parking is one of the advantages of dining at 555 Hahaha Café. There are usually some vacant car parks along the same row as the eatery. Even on a public holiday and at peak times.
From the street, the entrance and front of the café is not so easy to spot. So, we suggest using Tealicious Café as a landmark to locate 555 Hahaha Café.
Once you find parking, head to Tealicious Café and on the right of the café, is a dark blue grill door. Go straight up the stairs and you will reach 555 Hahaha Café.
Ambiance At 555 Hahaha Café
Ambiance is another thing that 555 Hahaha Café has done well.
The café is dim but beautifully decorated. Starting with their impressive wooden front door with intricate carvings.
There are different wallpapers, hanging bird cages, and lovely teapot pendant lights.
The main section of the café is cramped. There are many small tables to the side of and right in front of the counter. Because of this, the care can be very noisy at peak times.
Towards the front of the building are larger tables in private rooms. The last room has a very long table that sits more than 10 pax comfortably. It is quieter in this room.
Service At 555 Hahaha Café
Staff is busy at peak times but still willing to explain the menu if you have questions.
Even though we came on a public holiday and at lunch time (12pm), the food arrived timely (well within 15 minutes) after we made our order (and payment via Touch ‘n Go) at the counter.
Food At 555 Hahaha Café
Out of what we ordered, the most impressive items were the fried pork (garlic fried pork with rice) and the milk and green tea.
The pineapple fried rice sets (we ordered 2 sets) were decent but not outstanding. Especially since the prawns (they give 3 per plate) are not fresh, but the frozen sort.
If you do order the pineapple fried rice, they come with small serving of sambal and mango salad (which was not bad at all).
Note: The pineapple fried rice is on their extended menu
Having tried authentic Thai tom yum soup before, the one at 555 Hahaha Café is only fair at best.
We did not get to try the desserts at 555 Hahaha Café, but they do have mango with sticky rice and red ruby dessert.
Pricing At 555 Hahaha Café
Drinks are pricey at 555 Hahaha Café, Thai milk tea costs RM7.90 while the green Thai tea costs almost RM10.
We noticed that the portion for the green Thai tea is significantly less than the Thai milk tea. Despite being more expensive.
Portions for the food overall, are between small to moderate. It is nice that they use fresh pineapple and cashew nuts for the pineapple fried rice.
We are small eaters and shared 4 mains, 2 milk teas and 2 cups of plain water. This cost RM107 total.
So, you can expect to spend more than RM30 if you want a main, dessert, and a drink at 555 Hahaha Café.
Conclusion
In conclusion, we did not have a bad experience at 555 Hahaha Café. But it could have been better. If we come again, it would be a private function. Owing to the appealing ambiance and ease of parking.
The pricing is a little high when we can find Thai food for cheaper in Ipoh. However, if you do want air conditioning, available parking, and reasonably good Thai food, 555 Hahaha Café is worth a try.
