About Fish and Chips By. Baraseeta

The official opening of the branch at Medan Ipoh Bestari was in March, 2021.

They used to have a few different variations of fish and chips. But they have since stuck to 2 flavors.

While not extensive, the menu has a good mix of western mains and desserts. There are yogurt smoothies, coffees, and non-caffeinated beverages. They have beer too.

Note: For the health-conscious, there are no salad options.

The décor is tasteful and incorporates some British vintage flair. As well as neon signs.

And since the restaurant is at a corner lot, two walls have windows, which helps the space feel less cramped.

Service At Fish and Chips By. Baraseeta

Besides the food, service is one of the highlights of dining at Fish and Chips By. Baraseeta.

We went on a weekday for lunch and the two waitresses were very attentive. Even with the increasing number of customers coming into the restaurant.

Our orders were not straightforward either:

  • We changed potato wedges to fries
  • A mix of cold and hot drinks
  • Different extras with the sets
  • Dessert to come after the mains

Regardless, the orders came without mistakes. And pretty fast too.

The waitresses are very alert when it comes to clearing empty dishes.

They brought our dessert to us after seeing that we had finished all our meals. With an extra plate and the correct number of spoons.

PS: The plating and food presentation is aesthetic yet practical

Food At Fish and Chips By. Baraseeta

We do like the fish and chips here. The quality is consistent. And the food is crispy without being oily.

The tartar sauce is rich and not the runny commercial sort. The mushy peas now have a slight mint flavor to them. Which is not bad but it is more authentic to British food to leave the mint out.

Complementary honey lemon drinks that come with the set are homemade. As are the soups, which we appreciate. Both the mushroom and pumpkin soup are nice. A bit peppery, but creamy and flavorful.

Their bacon and pork burger is tasty albeit salty. In our opinion, the fish and chips taste better. We don’t think they use MSG for their food. Or if they do, it’s not a lot.

The brownie has a rich texture. And it comes with almond flakes and chocolate sauce. We love the gelato. It has a distinct natural vanilla flavor and a delightful creamy consistency.

They reheat the brownie so that’s warm when they serve it too.

Cappucino was good by the way. Smooth with an aromatic taste.
