Ipoh has its fair share of Western restaurants! While most of these are open for dinner, there are some that you can stop by for lunch too.
Halal options are limited but we’ve made sure to include some reputable ones in this list!
Be ready to splurge a little too because Western food is something of a treat when you want something other than local cuisine.
1. MichelangelO’s Pizzeria
The undisputed specialty here is their delicious wood-fired pizza! Go before 7pm to avoid the dinner crowd!
Get the half and a half option so you can try two different flavors! You can also get side orders to accompany your pizza!
See what our favorite flavors at Michelangelo’s Pizzeria are.
- Opening hours: 5:30pm to 9pm; Closed on Mondays
- Contact: +605-549 9099
- Remark: Not halal; Not the place for a quiet conversation! You can order beer here as well. Only open for dinner.
2. Red Brick Kitchen
It’s not easy to find this place without a navigation app, but Red Brick Kitchen has some good food and beautiful scenery to enjoy.
This eatery is Muslim friendly too. And is open for brunch, lunch, and dinner.
See our full experience at Red Brick Kitchen (plus more photos!).
- Opening Hours: 10am to 10:30pm (Closed on Mondays)
- Contact: +6011-5622 3642
- Remarks: Get feel warm on a sunny day
3. Fish and Chips By. Bareeseta
Go for the namesake dish of the café and you will not regret it! They have other western mains too. Like eggs benedict and waffles. Although the spaghetti is spicy to cater to Malaysian customers!
Their coffee is not sweet, and you can order smoothies too!
Food portions are sufficient for small to medium eaters. And that means you’ll have space for their burnt cheesecake or bailey’s or matcha Tiramisu!

4. Fantasy Food & Snack
Fantasy Food & Snack may not look like much on the inside. In fact, it’s full of families, especially during the weekends (and after school hours).
But this restaurant is fully air-conditioned. Note that the food here is old-school Malaysian western classics like chicken or pork chop.
Along with simple pastas (the Bolognese is quite tasty), they do have some local dishes too. Like their Nasi Lemak Special.
The taste of the food in general caters to the local palate (e.g. strong tasting, might be spicy, etc).
- Opening Hours: 10am to 9pm (Closed on Mondays)

- Remarks: Not halal;
5. ASOW Eatery Station
Open for both lunch and dinner, we highly recommend the grilled meat mains, especially the lamb dishes. Even if they’re around RM40+ per plate.
Their beverage menu does not have specialty coffee but there is coffee. And for those that don’t drink coffee, they have some nice but expensive juices. And loose-leaf floral teas that are great for sharing.
This plant-filled eatery is popular on the weekends (especially for dinner), so bookings are recommended due to the limited seating and parking spaces out front.
See more photos of ASOW Eatery Station from our experience.
6. The Butcher’s Table Ipoh
Meat lovers will be thoroughly contented with the decadent meat dishes here:
- Pork knuckles
- Wagyu beef steak
- Crispy roast pork
- Iberico shoulder collar
- Tomahawk pork or beef
- In-house sausages
- Pork chop
- And many more
Honestly, we find their food a little salty, but they are definitely generous with portions! And the staff is friendly!
Note: Parking is tricky on weekends.
- Opening hours: 12pm to 3pm, and again from 6pm to 10pm
- Contact: +6014-625 6770
- Remarks: Not halal; Depending on what you order, there’s a little bit of wait time involved
7. Aud’s Cafe
Stop by this quaint hipster cafe if you are exploring Ipoh Old Town on foot as parking is not the easiest on a weekend!
They have several pork dishes that are worth tasting:
- Pesto pork burger
- Siew Yok pasta (Chinese style roasted pork with spaghetti) – nice but not phenomenal
- Pulled pork sandwich
- Braised pork belly rice bowl
But we’re also a big fan of their avocado and egg sandwich!
Besides the food, they have excellent avocado smoothies and iced coffee! Overall, this is an excellent place to stop for a western-style brunch or lunch in Ipoh town!
- Opening hours: 9am to 5pm (Closed on Mondays)
- Contact: +605-246 1310
- Remarks: Not halal; Seating does not cater for large groups
8. Memories Ipoh by Morel Restaurant
The only thing we don’t like about this place is that there is only one small dining room with air-conditioning.
But the seating upstairs resembles a rustic beach bar and that’s unique in Ipoh.
Their food is tasty if you’re expecting an authentic, rather than localized taste. Meaning, some dishes can be quite bland.
We love their seafood pasta and wood fired pizza especially. The aubergine pizza is our favorite. In fact, the vegetarian options we have tried taste better (a lot less salty) than the meaty pizzas.
There’s coffee and alcohol available here. And their other non-caffeinated drinks are wonderful for a hot day.
Note: This eatery is not halal.
