Le Cloud Specialty Coffee In Ipoh

Because it’s still new, Le Cloud Specialty Coffee has not reached the same status or hype as other highly renown cafes in Ipoh yet.

But this hipster café has some very good points about it that we are going to highlight in this post!

Read on if you want to know what we think of the ambiance, service, menu and other aspects of this cafe!

Table Of Contents:

Location Of Le Cloud Specialty Coffee

The inconspicuous exterior and location of Le Cloud Specialty Coffee makes it easy to miss. It’s upstairs in an old building that used to house a hotel.

A Honda service center is at the other end of the shophouse block and what used to be the lobby of the hotel houses a popular vegan café (Vegan Delights).

There are some small signs outside and inside the building that indicate that you have to enter from the side entrance, and head upstairs to reach the café.

Thus, you will probably not find this cafe on your own and spontaneously unless you specifically plan to make a visit here or if you are a student at the university campus across from the café.

There’s also nothing else in the immediate area that is worth visiting from a tourist perspective.

Ease Of Parking At Le Cloud Specialty Coffee

For now, this area is not as busy as other places in Ipoh Old Town so finding parking nearby is not such a hopeless affair.

At least it is not on a weekday at 12:30pm.

We are not sure that you can park in front of the university on weekends but if that is possible, that would be an alternative parking opportunity.

Ambiance At Le Cloud Specialty Coffee

The building that the café is in is dated and dingy looking. But Le Cloud Specialty Coffee is attractive (and cool as there is air conditioning) from the moment you walk in.

It’s very spacious and aesthetically pleasing inside. Raw concrete walls, exposed ducting, and black pendant lights give the café a strong industrial feel.

There’s also a mix and match of different furniture – a great deal of their furnishings are from Ikea.

Some of the tables and chairs are a bit too low (especially for taller folk) but there is also bar seating at one side of the café and the longest table in the café is of standard height.

Windows provide some natural lighting although there are also ceiling lights and floor lamps for ambient lighting.

Plugs around the café provide a means for customers to carry out some remote work too. It’s quiet here as there is no background music too.

Service At Le Cloud Specialty Coffee

We cannot comment on how service will be on busier days as we came on a weekday. During our visit, we only saw two staff present.

The same friendly barista took our orders, made drinks and served us. She was attentive enough to give us extra spoons for our dessert without us having to request for them.

And we got our orders within 15 minutes.

Note: There were only 2 other tables that had customers when we came in and they already had drinks and food on their tables.

Food At Le Cloud Specialty Coffee

There is notable effort in how they prepare food and drinks to be as presentable as possible at Le Cloud Specialty Coffee.

Each beverage we ordered (matcha and coffee) came with a little cloud-shaped meringue and coffee art.

Savory options like the croffle breakfasts and bagelettes were plated with great attention to detail too albeit larger plates for the bagelettes would have been more practical.

We will add that the menu for lunch options is lacking – there are no heavier options like pasta or rice mains here. But they do have some interesting desserts to choose from at the counter.

Hence, we think that Le Cloud Specialty Coffee is more suitable for brunch or tea (they close at 5pm).

All of the things we ordered were good though – mushroom soup, croffle breakfast set, bagelettes with smoked salmon and smoked duck, mango mousse dessert, matcha latte with soy milk, latte, etc.

Pricing At Le Cloud Specialty Coffee

Food and drinks at Le Cloud Specialty Coffee is surprisingly affordable. Lower than at other Ipoh cafes and cheap if you’re used to KL café pricing.

However, portions for the food are not enough for big eaters. The cake slices are small too but we don’t mind this too much as it means you can try more stuff on their menu.

What’s interesting is that you can top up your drink for just RM5. And you can buy a DIY paint kit for RM25 and it’ll just be an additional RM5 for a drink!

Other Things To Note About Le Cloud Specialty Coffee

Le Cloud Specialty Coffee hosts coffee art or art workshops so check their social media (facebook) if you are keen on these kinds of activities.

Conclusion

We had a good experience at Le Cloud Specialty Coffee and would recommend checking it out if you like croffles, coffee, and art or just want a comfortable and appealing space to do some work and hang out with friends.

The prices are very fair (especially for drink refills), the food and service is not bad, and the environment is nice. It would be nice if they could extend their closing time to 6pm though (besides using bigger plates for the food).
