14. Jeram Lui Cha at Kedai Kopi Chor Kee

If you’ve never tried this Hakka vegetarian dish before, now’s your chance!

The unmistakable green soup that accompanies a bowl of rice is a blended and boiled concoction of Thai basil, mint, coriander leaves and guava shoots.

It’s slightly bitter and you will either love it or hate it! Other ingredients are the toppings on the rice – these could be bits of tofu, peanuts, cut beans, spinach, etc.

There’s one very acclaimed food stall (Jeram Lui Cha) in Ipoh Garden South (Taman Ipoh Selatan) that specializes in this distinct dish:

The owner is an elderly man and his son has another hawker stall (Jeram Wah Chai Lui Cha) opposite Maxis center in Greentown Ipoh that also sells lui cha (or lei cha).

But loyal patrons will insist that the father’s lui cha is still the best!

PS: I’m fully aware that a food stall may not qualify as a restaurant! But this one is exceptionally good.
