Rainy Corner in Taiping is a neat spot to have a coffee and even lunch. As the name suggests, it’s even cozier on a rainy day.
But what can you order here? And do they have any signature food or drinks that you should be aware of?

About Rainy Corner
Rainy Corner came about in late 2020. It is one of the few modern cafes in Taiping.
Their menu consists of typical café beverages like matcha latte or a mocha. As well as some sweeter variations of coffee. Like vanilla latte or hazelnut latte.
You can also get local coffee here. One of these is a drink unique to Taiping – hor ka sai.
During our visit, we did not see any fancy pastries for sale, but they do have in-house cakes and waffles with ice cream.
There is homemade sourdough bread at Rainy Corner – the flavors can vary each week.
And there are savoury croissants, focaccia, and toast on the menu. Along with rice and pasta options besides grilled meats with salad on the side. For noodles, their signature dishes are braised beef noodles, kimchi ramen, and seafood tomyam.
We would say that the menu is a mix of Italian and Asian food with some local twists.
They have some vegetarian options too. Sometimes, they have special dishes (e.g., black vinegar pork knuckles) for limited timeframes.
Rainy Corner is open from 11:30am until 8:30pm so you can come here for brunch, lunch, tea or dinner. They are closed on Tuesdays.
Ease Of Parking At Rainy Corner
Finding parking at Rainy Corner is easy on a weekday. There is street parking across from, and beside the café.
Ambiance At Rainy Corner
Rainy Corner has an enjoyable ambiance when there are not too many customers inside. The shop lot is narrow with tables quite close together.
Only one side of the café has windows.
And we like the window seats for the views of the street outside. Plus abundance of sunshine and plants. In fact, many live plants fill this café.
The counter/ coffee bar is at the front of the café.
Another highlight of the café’s interior are the large wall murals and custom paintings featuring the café’s cute character.
Service At Rainy Corner
The gents that run Rainy Corner are polite and serve with a smile.
We don’t know about their peak times, but on off peak times, the drinks come shortly after ordering.
Something else to take note of – this café has a grade A certificate for their cleanliness.
Food At Rainy Corner
We did not order any food at Rainy Corner but got two drinks – latte and silky milk tea. The latter has only a subtle hint of tea and is milkier – which is my preference. It is smooth with some fine foam on top.
On the other hand, latter is better than decent and to our expectations.
Pricing At Rainy Corner
For our two drinks, we spent under RM20. Our drinks were some of the cheapest on the menu. Others like matcha latte cost around RM12.
Mains range from RM9 to RM20. We find their pricing to be reasonable.
They have some hearty soups like minestrone and these start from RM8.
Conclusion
We enjoy chilling at Rainy Corner. This charming, air-conditioned café has good service and a lot of variety in the menu too.
Thus, we highly recommend a visit here (or at Double Tap Café) if you want a break between checking out Taiping attractions.
PS: Taiping Lake Gardens is a 1-minute drive from Rainy Corner.
