Established in 2016, this orchid farm in Ulu Yam is the largest orchid grower in Malaysia.

Hence, it’s no surprise that such a dreamy getaway away from bustling city life is also a venue for bridal photo shoots!

What To Do At World Of Phalaenopsis

As you enter, you’ll find the orchids placed in two air-conditioned areas located on the left and right. The left side of the nursery is where they keep moderately priced orchids.

The exotic and more extravagant orchid bouquets are located on the right side. And to prevent any mishaps or breakage of pots, children are not allowed to enter this section.

True to the name of the place, you’ll find only one type of orchid species here: the moth orchid or Phalaenopsis. Nevertheless, they have a huge variety of hybrid Phalaenopsis in various colors of monotone or multicolored renditions.

World Of Phalaenopsis Cafe

The on-site café (named World of Phalaenopsis Café) is a major highlight of the nursery, where the allure lies in the green-themed ambiance and plant-filled décor.

It’s very aesthetically pleasing with a combination of table seating and comfy sofa seating. Patrons of the café have to order their food from the counter.

The menu is rather limited, which is expected given that their core business is not food or beverage. Nevertheless, you’ll get a decent mix of local favorites from nasi lemak and rendang ayam to other cafe staples like chicken chop and big breakfast.

It’s not unusual for the café to be full during lunch over weekends and public holidays. In these situations, diners are given a limited time within the café to give other hungry guests an equal chance to eat.

How To Get There

To navigate to this Ulu Yam orchid farm with ease, use Waze and key in “World of Phalaenopsis”.

If you’re starting from Petaling Jaya, Waze will guide you on a route through B23 Jalan Hulu Yam Bharu – and Batu Caves.

This scenic drive features undulating hills, plenty of jungle greenery, and narrow roads – a typical drive through the countryside in Malaysia.

Ease Of Parking

There are not too many parking lots within this premise. So visitors will have to park in the open area along the road leading into the orchid farm. Some of the parking slots are shaded with an asbestos rooftop, while others are under the trees.

Nevertheless, finding parking is a breeze and there’s always a vacant lot as visitors regularly come and go. Best of all, parking and entry are free at World of Phalaenopsis!

Pricing

Pricing at the cafe is quite steep, starting at RM15 for local delights with the big breakfast being the most expensive item at RM25.

But we don’t think it’s terribly expensive seeing that they need to offset their operating costs somehow. Remember that there are no entrance fees here.

Pricing for orchids at the left side of the nursery ranges from between RM35 for a single pot or RM60 for 2 pots.

The premium orchids and bespoke flower arrangements at the kid-free section are priced at RM150 and RM180 respectively.

Note: If you’re shopping for bouquets as a housewarming gift or for decorative purposes, World of Phalaenopsis offers free delivery to selected parts of KL and PJ.

Apart from orchids, they occasionally sell other ornamental plants like the Red Christmas Poinsettia (RM25) – which is sold on a seasonal basis.

Conclusion

World of Phalaenopsis is a pleasant and brief day trip away from the bustling cityscape of Kuala Lumpur or Petaling Jaya.

However, while orchid lovers will be back for more orchid paraphernalia, there is little reason for non-orchid fanatics to revisit the place.
