About All Day Polo Bun
Opened in February 2019:
All Day Polo Bun serves Hong Kong Char Chan Teng fanfare with Malaysian fusion flair.
Their Polo Buns feature a 1cm thick slice of creamy Anchor butter.
For something heartier, you can also try the burger-like Polo Bun with pork chop and luncheon meat.
At the height of their business, All Day Polo Bun had 3 outlets under their belt. In June 2023, they shuttered the Taman Desa branch.
But the Subang Jaya and Chow Yang outlets remain that their bread and butter. And recently, they have extended their business hours from 8am until 9pm.
Ease Of Parking At All Day Polo Bun
Chow Yang is notorious for its limited parking. There are 4 rows of shops with culinary joints in this residential neighborhood.
And a single street with parking bays on both sides.
Given the scarcity of parking and the big crowds at lunchtime:
It’s best to park in the nearby playgrounds in front and behind Chow Yang. Or park on the side of the houses where space is available.
Ambiance At All Day Polo Bun
The decor of All Day Polo Bun is chic, simple, yet modern. The wall in the back of the restaurant has posters of celebrities like the 4 Hong Kong Heavenly Kings. And other pop stars of that era.
Flanking the pop idols are signs of popular tourist attractions in Hong Kong. Like Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, and others.
A splash of yellow paint on the walls gives a cheery effect. Chairs and tables mahogany-colored wood are in a neat arrangement to seat a group of up to 30 pax.
Service At All Day Polo Bun
To live up to its image as a leading Hong Kong cafe:
Waiters here start conversations in Cantonese or Mandarin. If your command of the language is embarrassing, don’t worry. Because they can also converse in English.
The polo buns and garlic bread surprisingly take 10 minutes of prep time. But they come fresh out of the oven and are worth the wait.
It doesn’t take long for the other dishes to arrive either. During peak hours, it takes no more than 15 minutes on average.
A steady stream of e-hailing riders is always present to pick up orders too.
Food At All Day Polo Bun
Signature Food
The polo buns are divine, with a crispy, cracked top that relents to a soft, chewy bun on the inside. The thick slice of Anchor butter is not overpowering. But complements the bun perfectly.
If you’re looking for something more filling, you can try Polo Bun Chicken Chop, Polo Bun with Luncheon Meat & Egg, or Polo Bun with ham and eggs.
The Polo Bun with Pork Chop is a little on the heavy side. Thus, you might want to share it with someone if you’re a small eater.
Meanwhile, egg tarts have a nice crumbly crust, and the custard isn’t too sweet either. You might like the soft garlic bread too. Which has a herbaceous blend of pure garlic butter.
Beverages At All Day Polo Bun
For drinks, the milk teas are nice, and we like that there is no sugar added. Sugar is available at each table, so you can adjust the sweetness to your preference.
Noodles At All Day Polo Bun
There are egg noodles, Indomie or Nissin noodles on the menu.
We got both egg noodles and Nissin noodles. And what we liked about the Nissin noodles is the texture. But also, the fact that the luncheon meat is on a separate plate next to the Nissin Soup Noodles. Hence, it stays crispy and doesn’t get soggy.
On the other hand, the dry egg noodles with chicken chop has a tasty sauce and comes with a generous portion of fried chicken and vegetables.
Each of these mains comes with a spicy and sweet sauce that adds a special touch to the dish.
