The line of delivery riders outside Ming Kee Porridge SS2 is a sure sign that their porridge is great.
Duck curry porridge is a novel specialty that will delight spice lovers.
This porridge specialist differentiates itself by serving more than congee too.
For instance, roast duck is excellent. The meat is well-roasted and flavorful with a firm but not gamey texture.
Don’t forget to try their bouncy wanton noodles, which taste best with roasted duck thigh!
Meanwhile, the jiggly fat and crusty skin of the char siu (roasted pork) has a pleasant, charred aftertaste. Bits of meat come off easily.

2. Jojo Little Kitchen SS2
Jojo Little Kitchen SS2 is an established pan mee specialist that is 5 doors down from Ming Kee Porridge SS2.
Here, they offer a wide range of pan mee and other local noodles to delight mee lovers.
Pan mee soup is a real hit with its thick and flavorful broth chockful of anchovies. While the fried pork pan mee is another crowd favorite. As the crispy pork crust adds a nice crunch to the lean, juicy pork.

There are exciting variations such as curry laksa pan mee. Or herbal chicken pan mee and century egg dumpling pan mee.

3. Croffle Café SS2
Croffle Café SS2 is a hidden gem behind overhanging trees and signboards. While small, the café exudes a cozy charm. It overlooks a busy street.
They serve delicious Korean desserts here. The artisan desserts are better than good and have remarkable plating.
Injeolmi Crofffle made with soybean powder is a must-try here. It has a savory flavor and fluffy custard.
Then there’s the Lotus Biscoff Cream Croffle which has a sweet filling and crispy outer layer. The tasty Peanut Butter Croffle is also a crowd-pleaser you won’t want to miss.

4. Tasty Porridge SS2 (品粥)
The Cantonese porridge specialist is hardly empty from lunchtime onwards. Delivery riders are a common sight here too.
Tasty Porridge continuously innovates to fend off stiff competition:
Their porridge is best when you’re feeling under the weather. Or craving a simple, comforting meal. They blend the congee to a powder-fine consistency so it’s silky smooth to taste.
Serving sizes are huge and enough for 2 people to share as well.
Fish porridge is their best seller as they serve it with 6 fresh and decent slices of fish. Pumpkin porridge is another culinary treat with crunchy anchovies.
The smooth texture of the Kung Po Frog porridge is also delicious. It comes with a thick flavorful brown broth and vegetables. And you can opt for Kung Po Chicken or Pork if frog meat is not to your liking.
Moreover, the herbal nuances of the Herbal Drunken Chicken Porridge are well-balanced. It has a refreshing taste with a hint of alcohol.

5. Lim Fried Chicken @ SS2 – LFC
Lim Fried Chicken is most famous for their fried chicken nasi lemak.
The crispy skin of the fried chicken is amazing. A thin layer of chicken fat makes it addictive. It tastes even better when served piping hot.
One downside though is that the fried chicken is a bit greasy.

It’s worth noting too that their nasi lemak comes with a fried egg instead of a hard-boiled egg. They do not include anchovies. But you can drench the rice with your favorite curry and a dollop of sweet sambal.
You can also order chee cheong fun with fried chicken. This surprising combination is very promising!

6. Uncle Don’s (SS2, Petaling Jaya)
Uncle Don’s is a family-friendly, bar-style restaurant with a wide menu. There is a mix of value-for-money pub grub and everyday dishes.
Mutton cheese nachos have a crispy bite despite a generous amount of mozzarella. This dish has well-seasoned mutton bits as well.
The grilled chicken chop is another classic. They top it with a thick, brown mushroom gravy.
Wild boar curry is another mouthwatering dish. They serve this in a clay pot together with potato chunks and a divine blend of spices.
You should definitely avoid the pork knuckles though. The flavor and tough meat are somewhat off-putting.
All in all, don’t expect a Michelin-starred meal here. But you’ll walk away satiated and impressed by their impeccable service.

7. DurianMan SS2 (榴莲鲜生)
DurianMan SS2’s high-quality fruit is a treat for sure. Either enjoy them as a durian buffet with family or friends. Because there’s plenty of seating in the two-story, air-conditioned durian center.
Or you can take some durian home. Their vacuum packaging is airtight and doesn’t give off a lingering durian smell.
Note: If you find a worm in your durian, you can get a replacement.
You’ll find seasonal varieties like Musang King X0 and D88. As well as exquisite flavors like Penang Black Thorn.
Prices are not cheap here, but the quality befits the price. The premium fresh durian pulp has a creamy texture and rich aftertaste you can rave about.
After a “heaty” feast, you can cool down with a sweet fresh coconut and other beverages priced at RM5.

8. Aftermeal Desserts @ SS2
Swing by Aftermeal Desserts at SS2 for a refreshing treat of Japanese shaved ice dessert. At the top of the list is the Iron Lady Milk Tea Kakigori. This superfine milk tea ice shaving is delightful.
Green tea and durian kakigori are other popular variations you should definitely try.
If you’re watching your calorie consumption, you can be sure that the kakigori isn’t sweet. Our personal favorites are milk tea and milo flavors.
Wash down the icy treats with a soothing honey milk or tea drink. Or a refreshing glass of calamansi.
Since the ambiance is clean and trendy, you can expect many people. On Fridays and weekends, there is a strict one-hour dining limit per table.

9. Shin Zushi SS2
Patience is a virtue at Shin Zushi, because there is a long line here at any time of the day!
This affordable sushi restaurant has an average wait time of 30 to 45 minutes. Yet, that does not deter the crowd from getting in line!
Diners rave about the super thick and fresh salmon sashimi that’s good for the price you pay. The fatty and smooth texture makes it divine.
In fact, they do serve generous portions for all their food.
The staff has a good handle on the crowd too. They will remind guests not to linger too long after their meal. Anyways, this isn’t a place to chat as it can get quite noisy.
You should opt for off-peak times, such as after lunch or around tea time. And even then, expect some queuing!

10. Dao Rae
Behind Shin Zushi, Dao Rae is an established Korean BBQ restaurant. They have staff dressed in Korean hanbok to welcome guests.
Dao Rae is famous for its BBQ meat which the staff will grill for you to bring out the best of the meat.
The savory barbecued pork stands out for its freshness. While the Angus beef short ribs boast bold flavors. And you’ll get a hint of smoky undertones with every bite.
An unlimited refill of side dishes (Banchan) is a plus of dining here. Their attentive staff constantly ask if anything else needs refilling.
Vegetable pancake with chives is another popular order because it has a nice balance of flavors.
Pair them all with a wide selection of Korean wine. For example, the maekgeolli wine for its fruity and sweet undertones.

11. SS2 Pisang Goreng
The SS2 Pisang Goreng Food Truck is under a huge tree on the side of KyChon SS2. This old-timer sells all kinds of fried snacks:
Such as banana fritters and fried nian gao (glutinous rice cakes). And they have sweet potato balls, fried popiah, and jackfruit as well.
The sweet fried bananas (pisang emas) are juicy, large, and coated in a crispy, airy batter. They fry them on the spot over high heat in a wok. Where they melt into a heavenly mush in a crispy coating.
Another must-try is the nian gao, which is between a fleshy slice of sweet potato and yam. They dip this combination into their signature batter mixture.
On a similar note, fried jackfruit offers the same heavenly sweetness. The heat from frying caramelizes the fruit’s natural sugars.
Note: SS2 Pisang Goreng has a kiosk at One Utama run by the owner’s daughter. The fruit truck in SS2 is run by the owner and her son.
