But SS2 has plenty to offer. There’s a durian buffet, porridge, delicious ramen, or crispy banana fritters. Enjoy great food from morning to night!

This porridge specialist differentiates itself by serving more than congee too.

For instance, roast duck is excellent. The meat is well-roasted and flavorful with a firm but not gamey texture.

Don’t forget to try their bouncy wanton noodles, which taste best with roasted duck thigh!

The Cantonese porridge specialist is hardly empty from lunchtime onwards. Delivery riders are a common sight here too.

Tasty Porridge continuously innovates to fend off stiff competition:

Their porridge is best when you’re feeling under the weather. Or craving a simple, comforting meal. They blend the congee to a powder-fine consistency so it’s silky smooth to taste.

Serving sizes are huge and enough for 2 people to share as well.

Fish porridge is their best seller as they serve it with 6 fresh and decent slices of fish. Pumpkin porridge is another culinary treat with crunchy anchovies.

The smooth texture of the Kung Po Frog porridge is also delicious. It comes with a thick flavorful brown broth and vegetables. And you can opt for Kung Po Chicken or Pork if frog meat is not to your liking.

Moreover, the herbal nuances of the Herbal Drunken Chicken Porridge are well-balanced. It has a refreshing taste with a hint of alcohol.

8. Lim Fried Chicken @ SS2 – LFC

Lim Fried Chicken is most famous for their fried chicken nasi lemak.

The crispy skin of the fried chicken is amazing. A thin layer of chicken fat makes it addictive. It tastes even better when served piping hot.

One downside though is that the fried chicken is a bit greasy.

Besides serving fried chicken with their nasi lemak:

This award-winning restaurant also offers curry chicken, fried calamari, or mutton.

It’s worth noting too that their nasi lemak comes with a fried egg instead of a hard-boiled egg. They do not include anchovies. But you can drench the rice with your favorite curry and a dollop of sweet sambal.

You can also order chee cheong fun with fried chicken. This surprising combination is very promising!

Green tea and durian kakigori are other popular variations you should definitely try.

If you’re watching your calorie consumption, you can be sure that the kakigori isn’t sweet. Our personal favorites are milk tea and milo flavors.

Wash down the icy treats with a soothing honey milk or tea drink. Or a refreshing glass of calamansi.

Since the ambiance is clean and trendy, you can expect many people. On Fridays and weekends, there is a strict one-hour dining limit per table.

The staff has a good handle on the crowd too. They will remind guests not to linger too long after their meal. Anyways, this isn’t a place to chat as it can get quite noisy.

11. SS2 Pisang Goreng

The SS2 Pisang Goreng Food Truck is under a huge tree on the side of KyChon SS2. This old-timer sells all kinds of fried snacks:

Such as banana fritters and fried nian gao (glutinous rice cakes). And they have sweet potato balls, fried popiah, and jackfruit as well.

The sweet fried bananas (pisang emas) are juicy, large, and coated in a crispy, airy batter. They fry them on the spot over high heat in a wok. Where they melt into a heavenly mush in a crispy coating.

Another must-try is the nian gao, which is between a fleshy slice of sweet potato and yam. They dip this combination into their signature batter mixture.

On a similar note, fried jackfruit offers the same heavenly sweetness. The heat from frying caramelizes the fruit’s natural sugars.

Note: SS2 Pisang Goreng has a kiosk at One Utama run by the owner’s daughter. The fruit truck in SS2 is run by the owner and her son.
