Highlands Apiary Farm is in Habu, Ringlet. Which means it is a convenient stop if you plan to visit Fairlie Tea Plantation or The Lakehouse Cameron Highlands.

The farm consists of the strawberry farm, a shop, and the apiary which is on a hill at the back of the property.

What To Do

1. Observe Fish

The aesthetic centrepiece of the farm at Highlands Apiary Farm is a large heart-shaped koi pond. While you can’t feed them, these koi are a hefty size and come in many colors.

2. Walk Through Rows Of Strawberries

If you’re going all the way up to the shop, you will pass the strawberries on the way up. Note that they don’t usually let visitors pluck the strawberries.

Further up past the strawberries are tables of healthy succulents and other potted plants – these are not for sale.

There used to be rows of globe amaranth instead of these but no more.

3. Browse The Shop

At the top of the property is a small colorful building which serves as the gift shop. All of their products are laid out on tables for easy viewing.

Products they sell at Highlands Apiary Farm:

  • Homemade beeswax soap
  • Fresh honeycomb
  • Honey
  • Fruit-based cider vinegar
  • Royal Jelly
  • Homemade ice cream

4. Enjoy Homemade Ice Cream

Opposite the counter is an ice box with their homemade ice cream – they have different flavors to choose from. And these include the likes of avocado, passionfruit, and strawberry.

We do like the passionfruit flavor as it is zesty but milky, and not overly sweet.

It costs RM6.50 for one ice-cream on a stick.

5. Have A Look At The Transparent Bee Hive

Beside the shop is a cabinet which is transparent.

There is a real live beehive in this cabinet. So, you can have a closer look on the ongoings of a hive if you’re not too scared of getting closer to the bees.

7. Chat With The Proprietress

You can find the proprietress up in the shop behind the counter on a hot afternoon.

And she’s the best person to ask if you have questions of the farm, or any of the products they sell.

Parking

Either drive up and park at the shop. Or park at the bottom of the farm, near the main entrance.

Summary

What we like:

  • Parking for visitors
  • Free entry
  • Approachable proprietress
  • Calm environment (not a top spot for most tourists)
  • Homemade ice cream is tasty
  • Transparent beehive display
  • Sweet and fresh strawberries for sale

What we don’t like:

  • Nothing much to do here – no on-site café or playground for kids, etc
  • Unreliable opening hours

Conclusion

For those passing through Ringlet, Highlands Apiary Farm is a nice enough place to stop. Moreover, they don’t charge entry fees here.

If you have time to spare, you can spend some time getting to know the workings of bees, the farm, or the products they sell straight from the friendly proprietress.
