Cameron Valley Tea House 3, Kuala Terla Tea Plantation - Travelswithsun

You might be thinking of passing up a visit to Cameron Valley Tea House 3 at the Kuala Terla plantation in favor of more popular tea plantations.

But what are you missing out on if you do?

Here are some reasons you might want to consider changing your mind about this place.

Entrance Fees

As with the other tea plantations under Bharat Sdn. Bhd., you need to pay to enter the tea plantation.

If you want to enter directly into the plantation and explore on your own feet, it costs RM4 per adult.

What To See And Do

Order Something From The Café

If you’ve been to the other tea houses under Bharat Sdn. Bhd. before, you’ll know what to expect from this café.

The menu consists of things like teh tarik (worth ordering if you ask for less sugar), masala tea, fried finger food like chips and chicken nuggets, scones with fresh cream and strawberry jam, etc.

They have spaghetti, sandwiches, and nasi lemak too but neither of these are particularly tasty.

Orders are made at the counter that is separate from the main seating area.

There is outdoor seating beside the building but we much prefer the seats on the upper terrace which is accessible with stairs on the other side of the building.

There are also less flies at the top than on the ground floor.

Check Out The Gift Shop

This gift shop is very spacious and well lit. We didn’t find anything that interested us but there are a lot of different Bharat tea products.

There are also ceramic mugs for sale.

You can pick up identical products at any of the Cameron Valley tea houses.

Explore The Tea Plantation

Once you enter the tea plantation, there is a small hill to the right that you can climb up. We don’t recommend this climb for elders as it is uneven and quite steep.

But the climb is short, and you will come to a flat top with stone tables and seats. There is a small fountain here too.

You can’t bring outside food for a picnic, but it looks like you can bring food from the café here if you want. We saw rubbish bins.

From this viewpoint, you can see a lot of the tea plantation as well as any jeeps or ATVs that happen to be going through the plantation.

Note: There is a 4×4 jeep (safari) and ATV rental station to the side of the visitor car park if you would rather not walk.

If you can’t manage the climb up, you will still be able to take nice photos inside the tea plantation. You won’t have to walk very far to reach the signage for Cameron Valley Tea unlike with the other 2 tea houses.

How To Get Here

You won’t need to drive deep into the plantation to get to the tea house. It’s beside the road (after a sharp uphill turn) and one of the first few attractions you’ll see if you’re coming up from Ipoh.

We can include this tea house as one of the stops in a private day tour from Ipoh to Cameron Highlands. Our tours are highly customizable, and we can accommodate different sized groups (no mixing of groups from separate bookings).

WhatsApp us for more information and to make a booking.

Conclusion

For first time visitors to Cameron Highlands, BOH Sungai Palas tea plantation is more impressive and hence a go-to location. But we think Cameron Valley Tea House 3 is perfectly fine if you’re trying to escape the crowds.

The tea plantation is scenic with many trees around. It’s also easier on anyone with mobility issues since you don’t have to walk as much.

Cameron Valley Tea House 1

Cameron Valley Tea House One attracts more visitors than Cameron Valley Tea House 3 even though the café is smaller. Many choose to go here for views of and down below the tea valley. There is a buggy service that can take visitors down into the valley.

Cameron Valley Tea House 2

You can go to either Cameron Valley Tea House One or Cameron Valley Tea House Two to enjoy the same tea plantation and valley views. But we find that between the two, Cameron Valley Tea House 2 has a less cramped dining environment although it can be noisy.
