The pandemic slowed the growth of new hotels in Ipoh. So, most of the hotels on this list are not brand new. They are just relatively newer than existing hotels in Ipoh.

We do consider hotels that recently gone through renovations and facelifts too.

Top 5 New Hotels In Ipoh

1. Reno Hotel Ipoh

While Reno Hotel Ipoh is cheap, its location is not ideal for sightseeing on foot in Ipoh Old Town. The hotel is in Ipoh New Town and close to Falim. It takes 7 minutes by car to visit Concubine Lane from here.

Reno Hotel Ipoh is one of the newest hotels on this list. It opened its doors to the public in early 2020.

Reno Hotel Ipoh offers clean rooms with new furnishings including a TV. On top of this, there is daily cleaning of the rooms too.

The rooms are basic (e.g., no electric kettle) but if you need anything – like a hair dryer or other toiletries, you can ask the reception staff.

Unless you have your own car, you will find that dining options are very limited in this area. The hotel does not have an on-site café or restaurant.

What you’ll like:

  • Location is alright if you have your own transport
  • Low price point
  • Good service
  • Rooms are spacious, tidy and comfortable
  • Friendly boss
  • Smooth check-in and check-out

Good to know:

  • There is a hot water dispenser for guest use at the lobby

  • This area doesn’t have any attractions or eateries worth noting. Lorong Lahat is full of car repair shops. But if you’re not choosy about what you eat, there is a nearby mamak restaurant

Formerly Heritage Hotel in Ipoh, Travelodge Ipoh (opened in late 2019) is next to the polo club and a long a main road that leads to downtown.

You may prefer to have your own car (or an e-hailing service) to go sightseeing or food hunting since this hotel is far from most Ipoh attractions.

For its price point, Travelodge Ipoh is a good alternative to mid-ranged hotels in Ipoh New Town if you prefer a quiet location. But don’t mind more driving.

And if you’re all about aesthetics, Travelodge is definitely a looker. And it is worth noting that there is an attractive café (Kommons) in the lobby of Travelodge Ipoh.

T SQUARE HOTEL is by far the newest hotel in this list. The hotel opened in early 2022. Its location makes it an ideal base for exploring one of the most notable cave temples in Ipoh.

Because it only takes 6 minutes to reach Perak Cave Temple by car. Furthermore, you can reach the closest shopping mall (AEON Klebang) in just 5 minutes by car.

Aside from being far from Ipoh Old Town, T SQUARE HOTEL is still great value for money. Rooms are spacious and tidy. Go for the superior queen room (with a window) if you can.

Its location in an industrial area makes T SQUARE HOTEL most suitable for anyone out of town who has business in this area.

What you’ll like:

  • Close to a mall and Perak Cave Temple
  • A lot of local non halal eateries here (in the day)
  • They have family rooms
  • Nighttime security available
  • Parking is easy to find
  • Friendly staff
  • Quiet (at night)

Good to know:

  • On weekdays, this area is full of traffic during lunch hours and rush hour because there are many factories around
  • Takes 3 minutes to drive to a Starbucks branch (Starbucks Tasek DT) and Chapter 6 Café
  • Fewer Muslim-friendly eateries around
  • Poor sound insulation between rooms

You don’t necessarily need a car to access all the shops and eateries around. And you can walk to AEON Kinta City shopping mall across the road as well.

Since the hotel does not have guest parking, you will have to find street parking and pay the appropriate fees.

Rooms are small but elegant. Minor setbacks are the absence of a good-sized mirror and insufficient hooks to hang clothes.

1969 Business Suites @ Ipoh Garden does not have a pool but there is a decent gym although it is not fully air-conditioned.

For a short stay in this part of Ipoh, 1969 Business Suites @ Ipoh Garden is an interesting choice.

Not particularly new (opened in late 2019), Bedrock Hotel Ipoh is in Ipoh New Town. Its location is one of its main advantages.

From here, it’s a short walk to famous local eateries like Restoran Tauge Ayam Lou Wong. And you can visit biscuit shops like Guan Heong Biscuit Shop and Sin Eng Hoe Confectionery with ease too.

Wong Kee Beancurd is only 2 minutes’ walk away from Bedrock Hotel Ipoh!

Further on, is Mural Arts’ Lane, Gerbang Malam and the main branch of Ayam Garam Aun Kheng Lim (salted chicken).

Our favorite cafes, August Healing and Jln Theatre Coffee Shop are under a 10-minute walk from this hotel too.

Rooms are modern and spacious (including the bathrooms) with clever layouts. Coffee and tea as well as a water dispenser are present in every room too.

  • Hotel provides breakfast (and it’s pretty good)
  • Wonderful location for sightseeing on foot
  • Amiable hosts (especially the wife, Debbie)
  • No shortage of eateries around
  • Hotel has guest parking and nighttime security
  • Connecting rooms are available
  • They put up seasonal décor in the lobby which is a fun touch

This list has a good mix of new hotels in Ipoh that cater to different budgets. From as low as RM70 all the way to RM300+.

And generally speaking, the pricier hotels have prime locations. Such as Bedrock Hotel Ipoh. Although it doesn’t have a pool or gym (Like Travelodge Ipoh).

For something in-between, 1969 Business Suites @ Ipoh Garden offers fair value for its location and service.
