MAPS Ipoh or Movie Animation Park Studio Ipoh is one of the newest Ipoh theme parks! First opening its doors to the public in 2017!
Featuring local and international animated cartoons:
MAPS Ipoh offers something different from the multiple water theme parks in Malaysia. For starters, it’s an animation theme park with 6 zones and more than 40 various attractions to explore!

MAPS Ipoh Ticket Price
It’s free to enter MAPS whether you’re from Malaysia or another country! Visitors just have to pay for any rides they wish to try!
MAPS Ipoh Ticket:
Tickets or MAPS coupons cost between RM6 to RM20+ per ride or attraction.
Or you can buy the unlimited rides entry pass online.
MAPS Ipoh Promotion:
MAPS occasionally offers promotions during public holidays or school holidays!
And large groups can contact them directly!

Monday to Tuesday: 4pm to 11pm
Wednesday: Closed
Thursday to Sunday, public holidays and school holidays: 10am to 11pm
Where is MAPS Ipoh?
It’s a 20-minute drive from Ipoh town to MAPS. And 22 minutes’ drive from the airport (Sultan Azlan Shah Airport).
The park is in Meru area, just off the main highway.
It is possible to walk (15 minutes) to the closest mall, Mydin Mall Meru Raya from the park.

With 6 attraction zones at this animation theme park:
Families can spend hours taking photos in the attractive grounds! Or trying all the games, rides and more!
1. Animation Square
Animation Square will be the first zone you’ll see right from the moment you walk in:
Under a large canopy are quirky buildings with bright colors! These will entice you take some family photos for memories of your first visit to MAPS!
At this zone, you will find the following:
Character Appearance
Bump into your favorite characters from BoBoiBoy and The Adventurers while you’re at Animation Square!
Center Stage
Break dancers perform here (not every day). You can take photos with them or learn some moves from them at the workshops!
BoBoiBoy 4D Adventure Theatre
Watch BoBoiBoy’s adventure to the Floating Island in a state-of-the-art theatre! You will feel the seats move along with the waves on screen!
2. Blast Off Zone
In contrast to the name:
This zone features some laidback games and the classic family favorite, bumper cars!
There is a food court (Starship Food Court) and a restaurant (Starship Restaurant) if you get hungry!
The Adventurers Bumper Blast
Each round you pay for gives you 5 minutes to bump and avoid other drivers! The cars can sit two passengers (adult or child) at a time.

3. Fantasy Forest Zone
Kids between ages 3 to 12 will happily roam Fantasy Forest Zone – with its ocean-themed playground, Coral Kingdom, the Cave of Wonders and more! Like The Adventurers HQ Treehouse!
Zugo’s Crystal Quest
This is a figure 8 roller coaster ride that the whole family can partake in! Perfect for your kids’ first roller coaster experience!
The Adventurers HQ Tree House
Young children will love playing pretend at the Fantasy Forest Treehouse! Come see what lies within this curious forest fairy home!
Red Baron
Your young pilot aspirer will get an opportunity to fly a plane (well sort of) with this attraction!
Fantasy Carousel
Not your regular carousel with horses:
Fantasy Carousel has a beautiful jungle theme where you get to ride on your favorite animal!
Coral Kingdom
Take a breath of relief from the heat in this indoor air-conditioned playground!
The inside looks like a fantastic underwater world!
Cave Of Wonders
Cave of Wonders is another indoor attraction at MAPS! It’s a manmade cave filled with historical artifacts that will have you feeling like you are archeologist!
Coliseum Water Play
It may be a water fountain under the guise of a Roman-inspired coliseum but all the same:
Kids will have a blast running through the sprays!
4. Lakeside Zone
Looking for something to up the ante? Rides in this zone will have you flying in the air!
Space X-Plorers
Space X-Plorers takes the rocking ship ride to a whole new level! Passengers have to sit facing out, in a circle exposed to the full rush of the wind as the ship moves!
HyperSpin
It starts slow but gets intense fast as each rotation swings you out further!
Asteroid Attack
Not for the faint of heart or those terrified of heights! Asteroid Attack will swing until the carriages are upside down! Before a tremendous drop back down!
5. Live Action Zone
Visitors are in for an unusual treat at this zone!
Stunt Legends Arena
Sit back and watch the MAPS crew perform live stunts with cars and motorcycles! Just don’t try this at home when you get back!
6. Dream Zone
The star attractions here are Megamind Megadrop (Malaysia’s tallest drop tower) and Casper’s Birthday Blast.
Sadly, the highly anticipated Dream Zone featuring will not be opening after all.
Because Dreamworks and Animation Theme Park Sdn Bhd (ATP) cannot agree on the license for the Dreamworks attractions in this zone!
So renovation is in the works to remove all intellectual property of Dreamworks before they can open this zone to the public!

Read this review before you go out of your way to visit MAPS!
What You Will Like:
- The live stunt show is quite exhilarating
- There are indoor attractions like Coral Kingdom to hide out in if it rains or when the heat gets to intense!
- Many photo opportunities
- Structures within the park are beautiful
- About 11 family-fun rides – Kids will love Zugo’s Crystal Quest and Red Baron
- Delicious nasi kandar at the food court
- Ample parking space
- 4D show is good
What You Will Not Like:
- Some walking required from the car park to the theme park
- Not fully sheltered
- Attractions are not too impressive unless you are fans of Boboiboy
- Food is pricey
- No cohesive theme throughout the park
- More like a fun fair than a theme park
Good To Know:
- Very kids-oriented (rides cater to kids with heights of 120cm with some rides rated for 130cm)
- Dream Zone is not open.
- No outside food or beverages are allowed in (And they will check at the entrance)
- The most thrilling rides are at Lakeside Zone
- The 4D theaters runs by a schedule
- Rides tend to be under maintenance on weekdays
- The weekend crowd starts pouring in around noon!
- Keep a copy of the theme park map in your phone before you go!
- Strollers and electric vehicles are available for rent

MAPS Ipoh (or Movie Animation Park Studio Ipoh) may be no match for Universal Studios in Singapore or Sunway’s Lost World of Tambun!
But the free entrance fee and low prices makes it worth considering!
Even though there will be no Dreamworks-themed attractions for the foreseeable future:
The park is still new and they may come up with something else instead!
